As many of my readers know I mentor teens privately in Los Angeles and via web cam and phone all over the world.
I have found that mentoring and coaching has been extremely rewarding for my clients (and for me!) because it offers teens, tweens and kids one on one time with an older (but still young) person who can talk to them about any issues they may be having with school, self-esteem, friends and life goals.
I want to extend my services to all my readers with some special deals so everyone can take advantage. You can read more about specific tracks below, but here is quick summary of what you can expect:
Benefits of Coaching
- One on one guidance
- Confidence Building and Leadership training
- Interpersonal skills development
- Better Parent-Teen Communication
My available tracks:
College Planning Track
9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, Pre-frosh
This track is tailored to your child depending on where they are in the college application process. I will be working with them on college planning, completing applications, picking schools, resume building, extra-curricular maintenance and most importantly making sure they will have enough material to put on their applications when the time comes.
How to Prep for High School Track
7th and 8th graders
This can be a stressful time and students must have the skills in place to succeed. Here I tailor test skills, time management, scheduling, study skills and how to play the high school game, do well and enjoy it.
How to Prep for Middle School Track
5th and 6th graders
The earlier students learn how to manage their workloads, do homework efficiently and study using online resources the easier–and more successful at school they will be.
Study Skills, Test Skills and Organization Track
Procrastination, time management, back packs, testing, online academic resources, taking notes, outlining…you name it, we go over it all!
Goal Setting, Career Planning and Personal Development Track
I think it is really important for young people to realize their potential and ambitions early. With the advent of the internet, students can do amazing things to start their careers and life goals. Whether your kids have no idea what they want to do or know exactly what profession they want, I work with them to start working on these goals early. We do career maps, personality tests, and learn how to manage time and life issues.
Every child is different and I often end up doing a combination of the above and take into the personal needs and situations of the families I am working with. Some variations I have had in the past have meant including:
- Online reputation management
- Social networking safety
- Online entrepreneurship
- Health and fitness goals
- Working with divorced children to manage time and ‘packing’ back and forth
- Peer groups for groups of girls to talk about cliquiness, bullying and supporting each other as friends. (only in person)
…I am flexible and open to what you need!
What Do I Get With Each Track?
–16 Hours (flexible breakdown) Recommended: 2 hours for 8 weeks, absolutely amenable to personal travel and other summer plans.
–In Person Coaching at client’s house (if you are in the Los Angeles Area) $80/hr Summer Special.
–Web and Phone Coaching anywhere in the world $70/hr Summer Special.
-All coaching also includes ‘homework’ dependent on each client’s goals and situations, check-ins and assignments. I also have a thorough questionnaire and personality tests that I give free before the 8 weeks start so I can get to know my clients. This way clients can also examine what they want out of their summer!
**I am not therapist, and do not claim to be one! What makes what I do so different and helps teens really open up to me, is we talk about stories that go on in both of our lives and I talk to them as a fellow peer. Many of my teen clients refer to me as their peer mentor.
**I have a limited number of hours I will be working with clients this summer as I am working on another book (and of course my blog), so please let me know right away if you are interested and I will post when my client list is full.
