Before we get started, Happy Father’s Day to all the Dads out there.
I figured this might be a light day so I would write a short and simple post.
Since I began giving advice on parenting and writing this blog, a few different people on different occasions have mused that I must have been the perfect child growing up, always obeying my parents wishes and never missing a curfew. This assumption is sometimes reflected in comments and emails I get that question how I can related to teens with specific problems if I never experienced them myself.
I hate to burst those bubbles out there, but no, I wasn’t the perfect child. Without going into details, I definitely gave my parents a few gray hairs and wrinkles. I was grounded, did get in trouble (a few times), I did experiment and learned from mistakes.
This is why I’m so passionate about writing this blog and handing out advice, to hopefully pass on some of my experiences to others so they don’t have to repeat those mistakes, and hopefully let their parents live a few years longer in the process.
Once, again, Happy Father’s Day everybody.
