Alia is a 13 year-old from Nebraska. She loves to play the Acoustic guitar and, wants to be famous musician and a famous actor in Hollywood.
As a young teen, there are some challenges that we have to face. For instance, dating. I’m sure that some of you are either on your way to that stage or already there. Either way, we’re all going to have to deal with it someday. But before we jump to conclusions, let me tell you what I think.
Dating, in my opinion, is a serious decision. The fact of being out and alone with a person that you have admired is a VERY serious decision! These days I’ve noticed that teen dating in our country has started at a farely young age. Some as young as the age of 13. Honestly, I don’t even think that should be called dating. I find that, that kind of “love” is a season type of thing. Also known as something that will only last for a short period of time. Usually at that age it’s more of a group thing. When your friends come and tag along. Most of times it’s because the couple is afraid to go out alone so they will invite other people. Real dating, I think, starts around the ages of 17 or 18.
In my opinion, I think that teens should be aloud to date ONLY in GROUPS at the starting age of 15 and 16. The real dating, when the couples are out by themselves, should be aloud to start at the age of 17 or 18. The first two dates should be meeting with each others parents, so then they will at least know who they are trusting their teen with. I think that is very important.
As for parents, I think that this type of subject is a hard one for them. Seeing their child that they’ve known all their life growing up, is hard to take in all at once. All they want is the best for you. But I also think that they should be understanding about this type of situation also.
