There is a huge difference between promise rings (see link for photos) and purity rings. I believe that having a promise ring actually proves a commitment to another and that they are the only person you are willing to be with.

I am not sure how wanting to protect yourself and the ones you have sex with is a bad thing. I think STFree cards are a great idea. This wont only be for teens, but the millions of ADULTS who go to bars and have one night stands. Children need to be educated on sex to protect themselves, sex is a tempting thing and sometimes kids, who were taught abstinence, give in. People screw up, it happens. But these kids who do will have no knowledge of how to protect themselves. Knowledge is power. Take away that knowledge and we have nothing.
