Parents of teens breathe a sigh of relief when they see their child walk across the stage at high school graduation... As if the teen years were not challenging enough, the college years will present new challenges and parents will discover that parenting a college student is totally different.

Parenting a college student shifts the parenting from administrator to collaborator. Parents need to have faith that their child was listening to them and learning from them during the early years. Now is the time for the child to find their independence and learn their lessons through experience.

With a 50% drop out rate for college students, parents want this investment to pay off. They have gotten their child to the 50 yard line, but now, they need to get them to the goal.

I encourage parents to stay appropriately involved. I have articles and a blog specifically for parents of college students.
