Obama’s Back to School Speech: 5 Points for Obama’s Speech to Students

On Tuesday, September 8th, Obama will speak directly to students about the need to work hard and stay in school. His address will be shown live on the White House Web site and on C-SPAN at noon EST.

Teachers are encouraged to tune in and let their student’s watch.  I am so excited to hear what President Obama has to say to students this year.  Let’s look at some points I hope he will make:

5 Points in Obama’s Speech to Students

1) Teachers are on your side.

Too often students feel teachers are against them.   I hope Obama addresses that teachers want their students to do well.

2) You get out what you put in.

I hope Obama will encourage back to school students to put in more if they feel like they are not getting back enough.

3) It changes, stick with it.

Many students get bored, school changes with each semester, each new teacher and each new class.

4) Hidden resources are the best.

Computer centers, school libraries, counselors and career offices can offer a lot.  Once you are out of school, you will wish for those resources.

5) Teachers are amazing resources.

Get to know your teachers! They can be great sources of inspiration, help, recommendation and knowledge inside and outside of the classroom.

I hope you will tune in and encourage your kids, school and teacher friends to tune in as well and discuss what you would want your students to hear from Obama in his back to school speech.
