Vans Warped Tour’s Reverse Daycare: A Parent’s Day at Warped Tour

Jessica is a 14-year-old high school student from Cerritos, CA. She enjoys going to concerts, listening to music, and playing basketball.

So what exactly is Warped Tour’s “Reverse Daycare”?  It is a place for all the parents that are concerned about their children going to the summer’s annual festival. Many parents worry about their child’s wellbeing when they are going to spend a whole day wandering around at Warped Tour. But since they have Reverse Daycare, parents have their own tent to stay in and don’t need to stress as much about their teen. In addition, they also get to watch free screenings of movies, get to talk to other parents that are there, and they get to stay out of the sun!

It’s around May, and your teen asks you if they can go to Warped Tour this year, what will your answer be? If you say no, you know they’ll keep on bugging you. If you do some research you will discover that in the previous years, Kevin Lyman, creator of the Warped Tour, has offered a tent where all the worried parents can reside in while their teens enjoy a nice summer’s day full of music, art, and extreme sports. Parents don’t have to stay locked up in the Reverse Daycare tent all day. They can also roam around the festival’s fairgrounds. They can check out all the booths and have fun as well!

During the 15th installment of Warped Tour my friend and I decided to ask our parents if we could go. I mean, we were at a reasonable age, and who could pass up bands like: A Day To Remember, 3oh!3, and All Time Low? Nope, not us. Our parents only agreed to let us go if one of them tagged along and stayed with us. It didn’t sound like the best deal to us, but we agreed to it anyways. My friend’s mom knew about Reverse Daycare, and was fine with staying there the whole day. We kept in touch with her by cell phone and she ended up getting bored the first few hours because not a lot of parents showed up yet. But when she returned, there were more people inside the tent.

Warped Tour is such a great experience. If your teen wants to go this summer, and you think they’re old enough, why not let them go? They can go with a group of friends and you can stay and relax at the Reverse Daycare tent. If you trust your teen, let them go. What if you kid’s favorite band breaks up and this is their last show? They’ll be gloomy for sure. And if you are the least bit bothered with letting them go, there’s always the Reverse Daycare tent.
