Ichien is a 17 year old who was born and raised in Queens, NY. During her free time, she can be found in the midst of crowded streets shopping, going to a movie theater, filming, reading or writing. She loves the bright city lights at night and adores the city that never sleeps.
It’s that time of the year again when seniors get ready for the biggest night of their high school life. It’s the night when girls dress up like princesses or Hollywood stars and the moments when guys tuck in their shirts and look spiffy and handsome in their tux. Planning for prom and the after party can be a lot of work but in the end it’ll be all worth it when you’ll be laughing and having fun with friends.
Here are some tips on planning for prom:
1. Get an estimate of how many people are going in the limo with you ASAP.
This way you’ll know how to split up the money and depending on how big the group is, a party bus would be an awesome idea.
2. Girls, it’s NEVER too early to start pampering and cleansing your face before prom.
We all want a zit-free face and flawless skin so start your beauty routine at least a month before prom. Remember to begin with a regimen such as a gentle cleanser. Then exfoliate and clean out acne and bacteria with salicylic acid. Moisturize your skin so it’ll come out feeling perfectly soft by prom.
3. Finding the PERFECT dress should be fun, not stressful.
Girls, if you want to find that gorgeous, over-the-top-makes-you-look-like-a-star dress, give yourself time to find it. Do not go shopping at the last minute. If you do, you’ll want to tear your hair out, trying to find THE dress. Always go shopping with honest friends who will be up front with you about how you look in the dress.
4. Plan a budget for how much you’re going to spend for prom.
Don’t overspend on prom to the point that you’ll regret it later. If you are willing to spend a lot, go for it! Remember to consider whether you want your makeup or hair done by a professional, or getting your picture taken at a professional photo shoot.
5. Guys, hurry up and ask the girl already!
If you have that special girl in mind that you want to ask, take the initiative and ask already! Depending on the girl, you can either ask in a creative, romantic way or a simple get-straight-to-the-point way. Don’t be afraid of rejection because you never know what could happen unless you try.
For those who wants to go alone or plan to go with friends only, then that’s fine too! Not everyone wants a date for prom.
Parents, prom is a special occasion in high school that your teen will remember for a lifetime. If you are worried about what might go on during the after party, try to know the details beforehand and where to reach your teen if anything happens. However, before all else, trust that your teen will make the right choices. Since this is the last year and the stress is finally over, your teen deserves to have some fun.
