Is there a teen pregnancy fad? Is it just me, or does it seem like more and more teens are having babies? Nowadays most girls are having babies just for those three words…You know “I love you” They end up trusting their so called love of their lives, and it may end up in an unwanted pregnancy. An unwanted pregnancy can cause numerous predicaments in one’s life– especially if that person is just in high school. This will definitely ruin your high school experience. You’ll walk down the halls and have people talk about you, some of those people you won’t even know! While you are on your way to class their eyes will just pierce you with their looks. I surely don’t want that happening to me.
Teenage girls give the impression that being pregnant at a young age is so fascinating and glamorous, which is causing younger girls that follow them in their footsteps to want to be pregnant as well. Well, that is not good at all. Not good for the girl’s family. Not good for the boy’s family. Not good for anyone. I just don’t understand why they would want to have a child at this age. These girls say “It won’t be difficult,” or “I want a child young,” don’t know what they’re getting themselves into. That will be the start of the downhill spiral of their carefree adolescent days.
Shows like MTV’s 16 and Pregnant, might help these teens see the difficult reality of having a child this young. But this show could also glamorize the experience for others.
If you keep a group of teenage girls that want to have a baby at a really young age in a room, and have a 16 and Pregnant marathon, it will probably make them change their minds. I mean have you seen anyone on 16 and Pregnantthat hasn’t fought, cried, or gone through any hardship? Each episode has at least one conflict with one of the girls. Sometimes their boyfriends fight or leave and sometimes even their parents are too disappointed and just walk out.
According to www.pregnantteenhelp.org, just under 1/3 of all girls in the United States will have an unexpected pregnancy in their teenage years. It is obvious that teen pregnancy is a big problem in the United States and the rest of the world. Most of the teens that end up getting pregnant have parents that are unknown that their perfect little daughter is sexually active. That’ll cause even more tension between the girl and her parents. Teens just shouldn’t get pregnant at such a young age. Some of these pregnancies may even end up as an abortion. Now that is a frightening thought.
