Messengers in Denim, The Amazing Things Parents Can Learn from Teens

From the Author, Par Donahue: “Each chapter of the book is illustrated with stories told by these ordinary teenagers. They shared with me their beliefs, their personal philosophies, and the lessons they’ve learned from life. They discussed religion, sexuality, substance abuse, medical issues, suicide, anger, money, and much, much more. At first I was awed (and at times flabbergasted) by what they had to say; but as I listened, I realized they were teaching me—and all of us adults—how to parent. In essence, this is a book about ordinary teenagers teaching extraordinary lessons. All of them were either my patients, my neighbors, or the children of my friends. The stories are all true, though I have changed many of the circumstances and used fictitious names to protect patient confidentiality. To help the reader focus in on the attributes the teenagers illustrate, I have included “Parenting Tips” at the end of each section that summarize the parenting concepts discussed in the section chapters.”
The author is also donating $1.00 to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) for every book sold during the month of October.
