How to Memorize Large Amounts of Information

Private Session with Vanessa Van Petten:

1-2 hour pre-screen of student’s dossier (e.g. transcript, test scores, résumé) followed by a 90 minute meeting with the student and parent(s). Virtual or in the Los Angeles, or New York area.

This consultation helps the student and his or her parents gain a general idea of the student’s academic, standardized testing, and extracurricular record and how to shift focus, or make new goals for the upcoming months. At the end of the consultation, the Vanessa will recommend an additional program based on the student’s needs and desires. The initial consultation will accomplish the following:

*Identify the student’s passions and interests and create a plan to develop them.
*Evaluate the student’s academic and extracurricular history—including transcript, test scores and résumé (a prioritized list of extracurricular activities; awards, honors and achievements; employment and internships; community service; summer activities; hobbies and interests) – and brainstorm future academic and extracurricular activities.
*Pinpoint academic areas where the student could benefit from additional attention and institute new study methods to improve the way the student relates to school, teachers and studying.
*Discuss unique circumstances and/or personal issues that have affected academic and personal history, and how to present these issues in his or her college application.*Create a one-year strategic plan including standardized testing schedule, recommendations for coursework, extracurricular activities, summer experiences, community service and internships.

You have discovered Radical Teenagers and are on your way towards giving your student the most personalized and comprehensive tutor mentoring available. Wanting the absolute best for your family and children are only natural, but helping them achieve success can be one of life’s most difficult challenges. You have encouraged them in every way possible to achieve academic and personal success, but sometimes, kids need to hear the advice and support from someone else for it to actually resonate!

Most students have school resources, so why look for private assistance? Radical Teen Mentors complement your child’s teachers and school’s efforts by working closely with your son or daughter, customizing a strategic plan of action to help your student improve their grades, understand time management in the home and at school and build a solid foundation for college, career and the future. Many students also have therapists and life coaches. Older therapists and coaches seem to be out of touch with how students today use technology, media and current stress levels. Most of our mentors are extremely accomplished younger mentors who know what is going on in today’s school and personal environment and can reach kids on their level.

Additionally, we assist your student in finding personal passion projects to help them feel accomplished, work with teachers and develop a better relationship in the home and WITH YOU! High School requires careful planning and balance in all areas of life during this stressful time is crucial. Our mentors are flexible with their schedules; you decide how you want to work with us: either face-to-face, by phone or e-mail, or any combination.

We are certain that we either have an existing program that fits your family’s needs or we can create one for you. Our successful track record is due to our extremely unique approach that empowers your child to take control of the school and home life in a way that makes them feel confident, balanced and accomplished. We find this then lends success into all areas and relationships of your family’s life.
